The government has started this scheme (PM Solar Energy Scheme) for some states of the country. These states include Sikkim, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Andaman and Nicobar Islands (solar energy) and many northeastern states including Lakshadweep and can get up to 70% discount on solar system installation.

This subsidy applies to domestic, industrial, industrial and social sector i.e. hospitals, educational institutions etc. (solar energy).As well as the commercial sector can also benefit from this scheme. For this (PM Free Solar Panel Scheme) the Central Government has allocated Rs.600 crore to Rs.5,000 crore over a period of 5 years till 2019-20 under National Solar Mission (NSM).
